Car ferries leave Piombino almost hourly for Portoferraio in the summer season. There are also a couple of daily ferries for Rio Marina and Cavo.
The main shipping companies are Toremar, Moby Lines and Blu Navy.
The crossing Piombino-Portoferraio takes one hour.
A hydrofoil service to Portoferraio and Cavo (no cars) takes 40 minutes.
